Brain coral are part of the phylum Cnidaria, in a class called Anthozoa or "flower animals". During the day, brain coral use their tentacles for protection — wrapping them over the grooves on their surface. At night, they extend their tentacles to catch food.

This is a single celled organism called paramecium bursaria. Inside the cell, you are able to see algae living in symbiosis — in return for protection, the algae supply the cell with food.
